IDT (Integrated Device Technology) ha annunciato lo sviluppo di una famiglia di soluzioni di switching a livello di scheda, progettate per le attività di commutazione, buffering e accelerazione dell’elaborazione dei dati scambiati all’interno di cluster di DSP in applicazioni quali stazioni base wireless e media gateway. Basati sulla tecnologia RapidIO, i nuovi prodotti sono attesi in campionature già dall’inizio del 2006.

I dispositivi offrono una serie di funzionalità specifiche che potenziano l’efficacia dei cluster di DSP, garantendo una soluzione altamente flessibile capace di supportare un numero senza precedenti di porte funzionanti secondo un vasto range di velocità operative. I nuovi prodotti utilizzano il protocollo seriale RapidIO per l’interfacciamento con altri dispositivi – per esempio DPS – che integrano questo standard.

La nuova proposta completa l’attuale offerta della società nel settore dello switching basato su standard, attualmente costituita da soluzioni PCI Express e Advanced Switching Interconnect (ASI). Dall’annuncio iniziale della strategia legata alle soluzioni di interconnessione e di switching standard-based – avvenuto nell’aprile del 2004 – IDT ha lanciato la famiglia Precise di prodotti PCI Express e ha rilasciato una linea di dispositivi di packet-exchange SPI (system packet interface), dimostrando il suo impegno verso questa importante tecnologia.

IDT (Integrated Device Technology) announced today it is developing a family of switching devices optimized for board-level applications, designed to switch, buffer and accelerate the processing of data among DSP clusters in applications such as wireless base stations and media gateways. The devices, which are expected to begin general sampling in early 2006, will offer tailored functionality that enhances the effectiveness of DSP clusters, delivering a highly flexible solution with support for a unprecedented number of ports across a range of selectable operating speeds. The new products further extend the breadth of solutions available for the IDT flow-control management effort by leveraging the company’s switching, buffering, and standards-support strategies. IDT has been aggressively producing driving products and ecosystem development for its standards-based switching thrust, featuring PCI Express and advanced Switching Interconnect (ASI). Since initially communicating the company’s standards-based switching and interconnect strategy in April 2004, IDT has announced its PRECISE family of PCI Express products and released a portfolio of system packet interface (SPI) packet-exchange devices. The forthcoming devices utilize Serial RapidIO to interface with devices, such as DSP and embedded processors, which integrate that standard.
