LAN di strumenti – (LAN for Instrumentation)

VTI ha unito i vantaggi del proprio VXIbus con Ethernet e ha introdotto una linea di strumenti con entrambi i supporti. La nuova LAN eXtensions for Instrumentation (LXI) è una piattaforma aperta ideata per poter realizzare strumenti indipendenti da entrambi i punti di vista hardware e software, ossia “computer-indipendenti”.

LXI costituisce un passo in avanti nell’evoluzione delle piattaforme aperte, della strumentazione e dei sistemi di test per le applicazioni di collaudo che non hanno bisogno della densità e della modularità del VXIbus. La famiglia di prodotti LXI proposta da VXI Technology ha la caratteristica di poter integrare insieme gli strumenti basati su Ethernet, VXIbus o su altre piattaforme (GPIB, USB, CAN, PCI, Fieldbus). LXI è indipendente dalle risorse hardware e dalle applicazioni software e permette ai prodotti di vivere per decine e decine di anni.

Sofisticate soluzioni di sincronizzazione e triggering sono state implementate negli strumenti LXI per poter offrire agli utenti la stessa flessibilità di controllo sulle temporizzazioni che essi hanno già sperimentato con VXIbus. Il trigger d’interfaccia sul bus consente di sincronizzare molteplici strumenti LXI insieme ad altri strumenti VXIbus. Lo standard LXI permette di creare architetture distribuite con reti formate da numerosi strumenti di misura.

Tre nuovi prodotti LXI sono proposti da VTI e sono la termocoppia di precisione a 48 canali EX1048, l’interfaccia LXI-VXI Gigabit Ethernet Slot-0 EX2500 e il misuratore di forze remotizzato EX1629.

VTI has merged the benefits of the VXIbus with Ethernet and has introduced a line of instruments with both supports. The new LAN eXtensions for Instrumentation (LXI) is a open platform designed to provide instruments which are hardware and software independents, or “computer independents”.

LXI provides the next logical step in the evolution of open platforms, instrumentation’s and test systems for applications that do not require the density or modularity of the VXIbus. VXI Technology’s LXI family of products provides the ability to tightly integrate Ethernet based instrumentation with VXIbus and other platforms (such as GPIB, USB, CAN, PCI, Fieldbus). LXI is computer hardware and application software independent, allowing to develop products that can be supported for 10 to 20 years.

Critical device synchronization and triggering has been integrated into the LXI instrument line providing the same control and timing flexibility that users have learned to expect from the VXIbus. The trigger bus interface permits the synchronization of multiple LXI instruments, as well as other VXIbus instruments. LXI standard allows to create distributed architectures with networks of several measurement instruments.

Three new LXI products provided by VTI are the 48 channel Precision Thermocouple Instruments EX1048, the LXI-VXI Gigabit Ethernet Slot-0 Interface EX2500 and the Remote Strain Gage Measurement Unit EX1629.
