Le maggiori difficoltà si presentano soprattutto nella fase di verifica e test funzionale, che rappresenta uno stretto ‘collo di bottiglia’ in grado di rallentare in maniera notevole i cicli di design. Nel quadro della strategia della società di risolvere tali esigenze del mercato, John Lenyo, direttore marketing della linea di prodotti ModelSim di Mentor Graphics, ha presentato una nuova linea di prodotti Questa. Si tratta di Questa System Verilog e Questa Advanced Functional Verification (AFV): entrambi utilizzano QuestaSim, una nuova tecnologia basata su standard che punta a fornire una copertura globale della fase di verifica, integrando in un solo strumento, con motore single-kernel e semplice interfaccia grafica, tecnologie di simulazione, di automazione dei test, tecnologie CDV (Coverage-Driven Verification), ABV (Assertion-Based Verification) e TLM (Transaction-Level Modeling).

Main difficulties are especially in the verification phase, which represents a tight ‘bottleneck’ able to strongly slow down the design cycles. Following the company strategy to solve these market needs, John Lenyo, director of marketing for the Mentor Graphics ModelSim product line, has presented a new line of Questa products. These are Questa System Verilog e Questa Advanced Functional Verification (AFV): both products utilize QuestaSim, a new standard-based verification technology which provides a global coverage of the verification phase, integrating in one tool, with single-kernel engine and easy graphical user interface (GUI), simulation, testbench automation, coverage-driven verification (CDV), assertion-based verification (ABV) and transaction-level modeling (TLM) technologies.
