Per questa ragione, la startup inglese Proven Software Solutions (PSS) ha annunciato in dicembre la sua intenzione di voler diventare il primo broker indipendente per il software embedded. Infatti, oggi, la complessità dei chip sta crescendo rapidamente e l’effetto è un ancor più complesso sviluppo del software che, per un’applicazione embedded, può spesso richiedere oltre 2 milioni di linee di codice. Inoltre, molte indagini di mercato mostrano che i troppo lunghi tempi di sviluppo possono causare pesanti ritardi nella commercializzazione dei prodotti e sono fra le principali ragioni dei mancati lanci di prodotto o delle carenze di funzionalità. Con l’obiettivo di risolvere il problema, attraverso il riutilizzo del software, Pcc vuole migliorare e cambiare il modo in cui il software embedded viene sviluppato, riducendo i rischi di sviluppo, aiutando a gestire la complessità e abilitando la device software optimization (Dso) per tutti gli sviluppatori di software embedded. L’azienda è in grado di fornire un framework e metodologie attraverso cui il software, invece di essere re-sviluppato, può essere contrattato per il riutilizzo. In questo framework, Oem (Original equipment manufacturer) e Odm (Original device manufacturer) possono accedere a una grande quantità di software proprietario attraverso un repository comune. All’interno di questo repository di software provato e affidabile, Oem, Odm, integratori di sistemi e consulenti di progettazione possono anche inserire e registrare il software di propria produzione.

The company can provide a framework and methodologies where software can be brokered for reuse instead of redeveloped. In this framework, Oems (Original equipment manufacturers) and Odms (Original device manufactures) can access to a wealth of proprietary software through a common repository. Within this repository of proven software, Oems, Odms, systems integrators and design consultants can also submit their software.
