Arrow and Artesyn: fast turnaround configurable power supply service

Posted 25 January 2017

Arrow Electronics, in conjunction with Artesyn Embedded Technologies, has announced a configurable AC-DC power supply service that offers flexible, fast turnaround solutions for low to medium volume requirements. Arrow has invested in its production facility in Swindon, UK, to replicate Artesyn’s own configuration line and testing processes.

Arrow can now offer configured power supplies from Artesyn’s MP, iMP and low profile (1U) MicroMP (uMP) ranges. Over two million options are available and small batches of up to ten units can be produced in as little as 48 hours. Power supply requirements often change during a product design process and the Artesyn configurable solution delivers flexibility while reducing the costs and risk associated with full custom solutions.

In addition to the new configuration line, Arrow has installed equipment for surge and EMI testing as well as an environmental chamber that operates from -70 to +100 degrees Celsius. These all utilise Artesyn’s test procedures and parameters.

“Arrow is Artesyn’s largest distribution partner globally,” said Eddie Gallacher, vice president of sales EMEA, Artesyn, “and we are excited to witness the investment in facilities and technical support that Arrow has made in order to grow its power presence in Europe. By establishing new configuration centres, Arrow is effectively providing an extension of Artesyn’s own manufacturing capabilities, offering the same range, quality and peace of mind.”

Holger Schierenbeck, Technology & Supplier Business Manager Power Solutions Arrow EMEA commented: “The launch of this configurable power supply service is another step on Arrow’s path to being the leading power product distributor in Europe. We have invested in plant, component stock and, most importantly, trained staff in order to deliver a class-leading service for power solutions. Companies can now access a fast, flexible, reliable alternative to standard and full custom solutions backed by Arrow’s global logistical strength.”
