Advantech announced its new Type 7 COM Express Basic Module (125mm x 95mm ) suitable for microservers, networking, telecom and cloud storage.

SOM-5992 is based on Intel Xeon 16-core processor (D-1500 Product Family) with a TDP of 45W and Dual channel DDR4 2400, 1.2V Low Power memory, up to 64GB. Integrated with two 10GBASE-KR, it provides high bandwidth interfaces for data transmission and reception.

PCIe x16 and 8 PCIe x1 support Non-Transparent Bridge (NTB), which allows redundancy via PCIe. This allows low latency interconnect offering e. g. reduced risc of data loss, allowing a secondary system to take over PCIe storage devices if a CPU fails.
